Patrick Machacek

Vice President - Development & Partnerships
Patrick Machacek is a senior post secondary leader whose career has centered on driving economic development through education, innovation, and strategic partnerships. He joined Red Deer Polytechnic in January 2023, bringing more than twenty-five years of experience advancing institutional capacity and strengthening Alberta’s talent pipeline and industry ecosystems.
Patrick has held senior roles including Vice President, Development & Strategy at Olds College; Vice President, Transformation at NorQuest College; and Associate Vice President, Advancement, Communications & Corporate Training at the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology. Throughout his career, he has led teams and implemented new business models that expanded partnerships, supported regional competitiveness, and generated more than $500 million in donations, research funding, corporate training, capital grants, and other revenues—directly contributing to economic growth across the province.
At Red Deer Polytechnic (RDP), Patrick plays a key role in advancing the institution’s mandate as a polytechnic focused on technology enabled learning, applied research, and industry innovation. By integrating more than 80 academic programs with applied research and employer focused training, RDP develops the skilled workforce Alberta needs to sustain economic momentum in sectors such as health, energy, advanced manufacturing, and emerging technologies.
Through strong collaboration with industry, community partners, and government, Patrick supports RDP’s efforts to build innovation capacity, strengthen regional resilience, and contribute to the long-term economic prosperity of Central Alberta and the province.
