Matthew Cornall

My name is Matt Cornall and I have called Red Deer home since 2008. I am a current interim board member of Red Deer D.R.I.V.E having proudly served on the City of Red Deer subcommittee which led to the creation of this new entity. I am keen to continue to serve the new board as I have a strong passion, knowledge and background in Economic Development in this city, region, Province and beyond. I would bring continuity as an existing board member and, through my role as the Central Alberta region’s Technology Development Advisor for Alberta Innovates, key insights into our local economy, the entrepreneurial landscape of Alberta and current government thinking and approaches to Economic Development. I also previously served Central Alberta as the Investment Attraction Officer for Central Alberta: Access Prosperity and through this experience and my current role I have built up a strong network with many of the key stakeholders Red Deer D.R.I.V.E will need to work alongside. I think it is vitally important that our new board has direct experience in the operation of an Economic Development Agency, and I bring that with my past and present experience at Alberta Innovates, Access Prosperity and for the European Union. Additionally, I am a lifetime member of the Economic Developer of Alberta (EDA) having served 3 elected terms on their board including being President of the association, as well as serving a 2 year term as Alberta’s representative on the national Economic Developers Association of Canada (EDAC).
