Frank Bauer
Care for Newcomers
Executive Director
After a successful career for over 20 years in international sales, marketing and business development, Frank moved to Red Deer from Europe in 2009. He holds master’s degrees in marketing and logistics.
In 2011, Frank decided to change his career path to the community serving sector and has been the Executive Director for Care for Newcomers since March 2014. Care for Newcomers is the largest newcomer settlement service provider in Central Alberta, with 68 employees and $3.9 mln operating budget. During his leadership tenure, the non-profit organization established solid policy governance and business planning models, all guided by a clear strategic vision and mission to support newcomers to become contributing members of an inclusive community.
Related to Red Deer D.R.I.V.E., Frank’s pitch emphasizes that it is important to understand that local economic prosperity will increasingly depend on attraction and retention of skilled immigrants, who bring a wealth of expertise with healthy diversity. In this, our region will be in competition with other regions in Canada and globally as well.
With lived experience as a newcomer to our region, Frank understands the opportunities and challenges faced by newcomers. And while he challenges fellow immigrants to take initiative in obtaining a good life in this country with lots of space and opportunities, he is a strong advocate for building stronger workplaces and communities. He will bring a newcomer perspective to the various Red Deer D.R.I.V.E. initiatives.
